How You Can Help

How To Volunteer

Organizing and cleaning donations take time and effort. Contact us if you would like to volunteer. Jobs include: folding blankets and towels, cleaning furniture, sorting silverware, packing dishes, and rearranging the basement. All work is done at St. Lukes Episcopal Church.

What's the Best Way to Get it to Us?

We take all sorts of gently used furniture and kitchenware. If donations are small enough to fit in your car, please drop them off at the church yourself. If you have larger items, we will happily collect them with the delivery truck. We also take children's books to give to families. We appreciate all the clean and gently used donations we receive because donations free up money to buy more beds.

Another Outreach

To help with deliveries, volunteers from the Kalamazoo Probation Enforcement Program (KPEP) go with Larry for picking up donations and delivering furniture. KPEP is a community-based program serving as an alternative to incarceration. KPEP connects participants to organizations willing to guide volunteers through the process of working responsibly. Two KPEP participants volunteer each week, becoming part of a solution in someone’s time of need, which can be integral in turning their own lives around.

An Appreciated Source of Help

Many schools in Kalamazoo, including Kalamazoo Central High School, Gagie School, and Winchell Elementary have donated the proceeds of towel drives to Partners. Other teens have volunteered to help refinish and clean furniture, fold blankets, and pack dishes. Loy Norrix High School Advanced Mixed Chorus and Master Singers would have participated in a benefit concert in April 2020 which was canceled due to COVID-19. If you are a student who would like to volunteer, please contact us, as you are welcome to obtain volunteer hours at Partners.
